The Norris trophy is awarded to the best defenseman. The roles of a defenseman are anchored around protecting your own net and reducing your opponents scoring chances. A bonus for any defenseman is any offensive contributions to help your team score. One of my personal favorite stats to judge a player upon is their +/- rating. Players gain a + for every goal their team scores while that player is on the ice. For each goal scored against while that player is on the ice, they gain a -. The league leading scorer may have the most goals scored, but when he's a - score, it demonstrates that the player may have been out of position a great deal of the time. In ì¼ë³¸ì•¼êµ¬ì¤‘계 , you must always look at both angles of the game. If you want a team to play aggressively, it will almost always result in more goals against.
O'Brien was drafted in the eighth round of the 2003 nhl draft by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, 250th overall. Shane spent his first three seasons in professional baseball playing in the American Hockey League (Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, Portland Pirates). 2006-07 watched O'Brien break into the nhl as a routine, beginning the season with the Anaheim Ducks then being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played the whole 2007-08 season with the Lightning. He became a Vancouver Canuck at the start of the 2008-09 year and has been with the team since.
Another prime example of the inconsistency with the league's discipline is the hit that Matt Cooke had on Marc Savard. On March 7th, Cooke struck Savard high at his head and Savard went down with a"serious concussion." Savard had to be carted off on a stretcher and it looks like he may miss the remainder of the season. Cooke also has a recent history of dirty hits. He was suspended twice in the last 2 seasons (2 games each) for head hits on Artem Anisimov and Scott Walker. What did Cooke get for this strike? NOTHING. No penalty. No fine. No suspension. No justice.
While the best defenseman in this draft is Adam Larsson, Start Looking for San Jose to possibly target someone like a Joseph Morrow or Jonas Brodin at No. 29.
Although I filed a report for one of my usual sources, my primary assignment was for the New England Sports Journal - to do a story on the players that were in the New England area.
I immediately noticed the impressive graphics in NHL 10. Details like re-creating each teams arena is in the game. So once you play as the Calgary Flames, you are playing at the Saddledome in Calgary and it looks like that stadium. Another new feature is the "fan intensity". Depending on how well your team is playing, the fans will get more and more extreme. If you play play-off games, the fans are automatically super intense!
